Northern Minnesota is home to the famous Boundary Waters Canoe
Area Wilderness the largest canoeing wilderness in the United
States. There are over 1,000 clear water lakes in this million+
acre wilderness. It makes up the finest canoeing area available.
With the immense Boundary Waters out your front door you will
have thousands of miles of waterways to explore.The Boundary
Waters is part of the National Wilderness Preservation System,
maintained by the U.S. Forest Service. The BWCA - Boundary
Waters Canoe Area Wilderness of northeastern Minnesota and the
Quetico Provincial Park of Ontario, Canada consists of more than
two million acres of International border lakes that are
interconnect by portages, and canoe trails, which Voyageurs
crossed hundreds of years ago. Today, "you" the modern day
Voyageur, can paddle your canoe through one of the most
incredible places. The pristine lakes and spectacular sunsets
will bring you back every year. Opportunities also exist for
hiking, kayaking, fine freshwater fishing, winter camping, dog
sledding, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing. Most importantly

BWCA

Summer Activities
Hiking - When the snow melts the cross-country ski trails are
perfect for hikers
Biking - There are miles of back roads to explore for bikers of
all abilities
Fishing - Families can fish on Shagawa lake or choose from one
of the many lakes all within close driving distance of Grand Ely
Lodge.
Boating - Our full service marina has two 60' docks, free use of
fishing equipment, paddleboats, canoes, kayaks. We also have
pontoon boats & deluxe fishing boat rentals.
Wildlife Viewing - One of the last strongholds of the timber
wolf you're also in prime moose, fox, loon, beaver and bald
eagle territory
Children's Programs - Your young ones will stay busy
all day with a variety of programs tailored just for kids
Winter Activities
Cross Country skiing vacation
There are
miles and miles of pristine skiing through heavy pine forests,
white cedar swamps, aspen sidehills, and beautiful scenic
overlooks on Trezona Trail.
Join us for a few days of fabulous skiing in northern Minnesota,
adjacent to the famed Boundary Waters Wilderness Area . In addition to the
skiing, you will also have the opportunity to try some
snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or ice fishing. You can also visit
the International Wolf Center. |
