Boundary Waters Canoe Area - BWCA - Minnesota Canoeing Vacations

Plan a day trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness while staying with us at our cozy Grand Ely Lodge Resort on Shagawa Lake.
When deciding on a day trip into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area think about your interests. Do you enjoy exploration? fishing? wildlife? waterfalls or solitude? Any outfitter in the area can help you decide the best day canoe trip that will cater to your personal interests. They know where the easy portages are and they even know the best places to catch fish!

Most people who have experienced a BWCA canoe trip will tell you not to plan such an aggressive trip that you are unable to linger awhile & truly enjoy this pristine wilderness. The view is breathtaking so slow down and smell the fresh air. Take things easy, get used to the Boundary Waters experience. Canoe, fish, and most importantly relax. Next time you go, you'll be an old hand and know what to expect. Then you can take on a more challenging Boundary Waters experience.

Do you have paddling experience? Do you own a canoe or are you renting from an outfitter?

Make sure to practice loading, paddling and portaging the canoe you'll be using. A little practice will contribute to your enjoyment and safety.
